New Media Arts Lab!
Something extraordinary is happening at YES Charter Academy.
Our new Media Arts Lab is open — and with it, a complete Media Arts Career Technical Education pathway for our students.
Leading the way is Jessica Koplos, a Disney-credited producer and manager whose professional experience in film and media production now belongs to our students. 
Under her guidance, YES Charter students are building real skills in photography, video production, audio, storytelling, editing, and creative problem-solving.
This year’s students have already completed a short documentary submitted to multiple film festivals.
This is not a class. This is a career pathway.

With that in mind, we are making a purposeful shift in how we communicate with our community. Our Facebook and Instagram pages will be temporarily unpublished as we invest our energy into communication channels that are more direct, more meaningful, and more aligned with our values:

The new YouTube channel and website photo galleries will bring you inside our classrooms, our farm, our field trips, and our students’ most extraordinary moments — with new content coming soon.
Google Search will keep us findable and visible to every family in Yuba-Sutter who is looking for something better for their child.
And Parent Square remains our direct, personal line to every YES Charter family — the place where our community actually lives.
We are grateful for every family who has supported and followed us.

Practical Field Experiences and Resume-Building Work for YES Students
When Principal Louise Miller found out that Ecological Restoration and Forestry jobs are heavily concentrated in Yuba and Sierra counties and that hundreds of jobs are planned to open up for prepared young people in our rural area, she acted on it immediately. She got right to work to bring practical field experiences and resume-building work to YES for our high school students.
This summer, along with our Dual Enrollment Program with Yuba College (college credits for our high school students), our YES campus is the “base” for the Working Lands Workforce Development Pipeline Field Days… and our high school students have summer jobs in the PAID internship program that started last week!
What an exciting opportunity for our high school students!
On Wednesday, July 1, Project Director, Dr. Joe Krulder, said, “Our first working field day went great. Interns learned how to fly a drone (GIS mapping), take a chainsaw to dead wood (bush clearing for firebreaks), identify certain plants (invasive and natural), and clear invasive species. Hopefully, these photos capture the spirit of the day…!”

Summer Camp
Bus schedule to be determined BUT it will be similar to our school route.
Summer Camp:
Dates ~ June 15-19 & 22-26 July 6-10, 13-17 & 20-24
Times ~ campus opens at 8:00 / summer camp is over at 2 / after care is over at 5
Bus ~ arrives at the school at 8:25AM and leaves at 2PM
Camp is a “drop in” basis. Students are welcome to attend the days they want and will not be dropped for not attending.
